In The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie talked candidly about her full-frontal naked moment, including her backstage preparations and her brother’s outburst.
The Australian actress shot to fame in 2013 when she played Naomi Lapaglia, the wife of Jordan Belfort, in the highly anticipated film.
The actress had a sequence in which her character wore nothing but heels and stockings in the Martin Scorsese-directed film, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and Matthew McConaughey.
In an interview with Radio 1’s Screen Time podcast, the now 34-year-old Hollywood star reflected on the film and acknowledged that she viewed it with her family. This is quite a bold step, given some of the outrageous sequences she acted in.
The Barbie actress continued by telling the host and audience that one of her siblings had stopped talking to her for a spell because he was so horrified by what he had witnessed.
“I can’t express how awkward that was. Robbie said, “I just need a minute before I can consider you my sister again.” One of my brothers didn’t talk to me for three months after that, but it wasn’t because he was angry.
The Independent claims that the actress previously discussed the nude moment at a BAFTA: A Life In Pictures recording, revealing that she was experiencing extreme anxiety prior to filming the scene, which was a little too much for her brother.
“I’m not going to lie, I had a couple of shots of tequila before that scene because I was nervous – very, very nervous,” she stated. “Honestly, I know it sounds silly now, knowing how big the movie became.”
“I thought, ‘No one is going to notice me in this film.'” Since everyone will be concentrating on Leo and everything else, it kind of doesn’t matter what I do in this movie,” she added. “And I was just kind of like, ‘I’ll slip under the radar.'”
In a different interview with Vanity Fair, the Suicide Squad actress reflected on her early acting days and acknowledged that, following her role in the 2013 hit, she was unprepared for the repercussions of success.
“Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mom, ‘I don’t think I want to do this,'” she said.
“She simply gave me a straight-faced look and said, ‘Darling, I think it’s too late not to.'” I recognized then that moving forward was the only option,” Robbie continued.
Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, recently welcomed a baby boy into the world.
