While Her Mother Enjoys Herself At Parties, I Have To Raise Someone Else’s Child

I volunteered to help a pregnant woman raise the child because I fell in love with her, but she decided to put her responsibilities aside and have fun instead. She returned to me to do something unthinkable years after she had left me.

I met Molly in college. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, but she never paid any attention to me. Although Molly and I became close friends, she would often hang out with the most popular boys, mostly from the school’s football team.

She was content and a great student. Having a friend like that was just amazing, even if my feelings would never be returned. After a while, she started dating Tanner, the team’s captain. He wasn’t your typical harsh jock, but I always thought she could do better.

A few months later, Molly came crying to my house. Tanner ended their relationship almost immediately and started dating another woman. I tried to comfort her, but she had really loved him. About a month later, she discovered something that would change her life.

She told me, “Mark, I’m pregnant.”

“What?” I exhaled. I found it hard to believe. “Have you informed Tanner yet?”

“Yes. He doesn’t want to engage with the baby. He instructed me to get rid of it because he won’t be a father anymore,” Molly remarked.

“What an idiot! That somebody would so blatantly disregard his responsibilities is unthinkable! How are you going to react? I inquired.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to part with it even if I’m a college student. I can’t be a mother by myself. “My parents are going to murder me,” she cried.

“I’ll be the one to do it. We might get married, and I’ll help you raise the child. “You won’t be alone,” I said without hesitation.

It is not possible to ask you to do that. I’m sorry, Mark. “But I don’t think I’ll ever feel that way about you,” Molly said in apology.

“Don’t be worried.” The point isn’t that. I continued by saying, “We’ll get married so that no one will look down on you and you won’t be a single mother.” Even though that sounded ridiculous to me, I couldn’t let Molly go through this alone.

“Are you sure?” Molly, still suspicious of this odd idea, remarked, “That’s a lot to ask of a friend.” I convinced her that I was serious, and later that week we went to the courts. Two of our buddies were witnesses to the brief incident.

I did everything I could to help Molly through her pregnancy. It was difficult because we were both college students, but we would figure something out. I became more and more excited about becoming a father every day.

But Molly wasn’t so thrilled. I sensed that she missed being able to spend time with her friends and have a normal college experience. But as a mother, she had to give up a lot. Amelia was the most beautiful baby in the world when she was eventually born.

I became her father after falling in love with her right away. Molly loved Amelia too, and she adjusted to motherhood better than I had thought she would. We became a beautiful little family because Amelia looked much like her mother, so no one knew she wasn’t mine.

Molly, on the other hand, lost her enthusiasm. When Amelia was five, Molly put her to bed and started crying. “I can’t do this anymore.” “I lost it all!” she exclaimed.

“What are you talking about?” I asked her.

“My youth was gone.” I should never have gotten pregnant! Molly continued.

Molly, please. You might be audible to Amelia. She’ll be in the next room! I hardly raised my voice as I spoke.

“I have no interest. I want to leave this situation. “I’m filing for divorce, and I don’t want to see any of you again,” she said, shocking me. When I asked Molly to stop and think about this, she had already packed her bags and left us forever.

Our daughter had overheard the entire incident when I arrived at Amelia’s room. “Mommy left!” she cried.

“Your mother is going through a tough time right now, so she needs some time away, sweetie. I promised her that she would be coming back soon.

Unfortunately, Molly never returned, so I was left to fend for myself. A year later, Amelia would cry almost every night, and it was worse than I ever thought it would be. But in the end, we both got used to living alone. My daughter was the reason I was happy, and I would do anything in my power to support her.

Molly never phoned, but she was always updating her social media pages. She was enjoying everything she had long missed about college life. It was party after party with her old college sorority friends. I felt awful looking at those pictures.

How could she abandon her child to go out and have fun? There was no pardon. The fact that she and Tanner had gotten back together a few years after her abandonment made the pain considerably worse. This man neglected to protect his child and left her when she was most vulnerable.

I was forced to move on, but Molly decided to come back into our lives when we were doing well. “What does your desire for Amelia’s return mean?” I wondered when Molly showed up at my house out of the blue.

“I want Molly, my daughter, to live with me.” Tanner is finally ready to meet her. “She’s her dad,” she said nonchalantly.

Tanner is not her father. I am her father. “I raised her all these years, especially when you abandoned her,” was my disdainful reply.

Mark, don’t do this. I will take you to court for custody if necessary. That’s my child. Tanner and I are engaged. “She will be happy with her real family at last,” Molly continued.

“I’ll see you in court then,” I shouted, throwing Molly out of my house. Amelia, who was almost a teenager by then, could sense how nervous I was. My lawyers recommended that we settle the case out of court because the majority of judges side with the mother.

But how could a judge help Molly when she abandoned him? My name was on Amelia’s birth certificate, and I watched her grow up. I was her sole father. Molly’s lawyers were tough, and our battle was hard. But the deal was sealed by Amelia’s testimony.

“I only have one father,” she said, gesturing to me. According to my mother, she left me many years ago because she regretted me. I have no desire to live with her.

Fortunately, the judge took my small daughter into consideration, even though my lawyers had predicted otherwise. He gave me sole custody and allowed Molly to visit on the weekends. After I encouraged them to forgive her, Amelia was able to build a friendship with her mother.
