Watch as a 2-year-old migrant is discovered traveling alone at the Texas border with just a note.

A heartbreaking video of a 2-year-old migrant girl clinging to a piece of paper with her name and phone number written on it after being discovered alone at the U.S.-Mexico border went viral on Sunday.

The El Salvadorian boy was among more than 200 migrants, including 60 unaccompanied minors, who were being held in Maverick County, Texas.

The toddler, wearing a bright pink jacket, was seen speaking to cops in video released by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The young child was seen in the video responding to inquiries about her journey. The child merely replied, “With my mom and dad,” when asked where she was going. She said, “United States,” in response to the question of where her parents were.

The young child is also seen in the video carrying a small piece of yellow paper that officials have confirmed has a name and phone number on it.

The child’s circumstances highlight the dangerous trek that many young people are making on their own as they enter the United States from Mexico.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Texas Department of Public Safety Lt. Chris Olivarez said, “This is a stark example of the precarious journey these children make from their home country and how criminal organizations traffic these children across the southern border and further into the interior.” “It is unacceptable for any child to be exposed to dangerous criminal trafficking networks, regardless of political views.”

More than 529,000 migrant children have entered the United States during the Biden administration, according to the most recent figures from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The Biden administration has lost track of more than 320,000 migrant children who crossed the border alone, according to a report published in August, which further exacerbates worries about their safety and wellbeing.

Separate films showed law enforcement officers standing in rows and filming dozens of minor migrants as they recited their ages and the nations they had visited.
