Biden might have paved the way for nuclear war with less than nine weeks left in his administration.
President Joe Biden might escalate America’s proxy war with Russia into a direct nuclear confrontation before he steps down in January. Some members of the Biden administration, lawmakers from both major parties, Ukrainian officials, and others seem certain that attacks on Russia with U.S. long-range missiles could give Kyiv leverage if the Eastern countries ever convene to negotiate a resolution to the conflict, which has raged for more than 1,000 days and killed hundreds of thousands of people.
In addition to arguing that the action could prolong the conflict, which most Ukrainians now want to end with immediate talks, critics have also suggested that it could start a nuclear holocaust or, at the very least, intentionally stop President-elect Donald Trump from negotiating peace when he takes office.
The firing of missiles
Kyiv launched six American-made Army Tactical Missile System missiles Tuesday morning at a weapons depot in Karachev, a Russian city 70 miles inside the country, in the Bryansk region, after approving Ukraine’s use of long-range missile systems against targets in Russia. This move has long been opposed by U.S. officials worried about escalation and has been cited by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a catalyst for war between Washington and Moscow.“We shouldn’t be afraid to take on more now.”
CNN reports that five of the ATACMS supersonic missiles were shot down by Russian air defenses, while the sixth missile was damaged. Damaged missile fragments fell close to a military installation, starting a fire but not killing anyone or inflicting any damage.
The attempted missile strikes were verified by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which also hinted that these and other long-range missile strikes would be seen as American military actions.
In a statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “The [Russian] president made reference to this on multiple occasions. If long-range missiles are deployed from Ukraine into Russian territory, it also means that American military and technical professionals are operating them. We will interpret this as a completely new stage in the Western assault against Russia and respond appropriately.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the European Parliament on Tuesday, “We must not fear doing more now.”
Putin is intent on winning this battle, while other European leaders consider holding elections or something similar at the price of Ukraine. He won’t quit by himself. “The situation gets worse the longer he has it,” Zelenskyy said.
As of June, according to the Institute for the Study of War, Putin had taken control of almost one-fifth of Ukraine, with Russian soldiers controlling 75% of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson oblasts.
“Today is the best moment to push Russia harder, and it’s clear without certain key factors Russia will lack real motivation to engage in meaningful negotiation,” Zelenskyy said.
Russia allegedly carried out drone operations within Ukraine and missile strikes on Kharkiv, Dnipro, Chernihiv, and Sumy hours later.
On Wednesday morning, the U.S. embassy in Kyiv declared that it was closing due to the possibility of a “significant air attack.”
Updated mine and nuclear policies
According to Russian official media, Moscow updated its nuclear policy this week with the goal of “making conventional warfare unachievable,” so meeting the requirement for nuclear deterrence by classifying strikes by a non-nuclear state with the assistance of a nuclear state as a combined attack.“Russia’s new nuclear doctrine means NATO missiles fired against our country could be deemed an attack by the bloc on Russia,” Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chair of the Russian Federation’s security council, wrote on X. WMD might be used by Russia in retaliation against Kiev and important NATO installations, wherever they may be. That implies the third world war.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, hinted that he would use nuclear weapons in retaliation for conventional assaults on Belarus or Russia. Russia possesses more than 5,000 nuclear warheads and a 625-mile-range supersonic missile.
The West understands that “the revisions Putin outlined have largely undermined the attempts by the United States and NATO to achieve a strategic defeat of our nation,” according to Sergey Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. Moreover, defeating the Russian Armed Forces on the battlefield is effectively eliminated by the enlarged requirements for deploying nuclear weapons.
“I’m unfortunately not surprised by the comments the Kremlin has made around the publication of this new, revised document,” U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told the Associated Press, adding that Russia has frequently attempted to “coerce and intimidate both Ukraine and other countries around the world through irresponsible nuclear rhetoric and behavior.”
NATO nations, including the United Kingdom, denounced the “irresponsible rhetoric” and reaffirmed their backing for Ukraine.
The Biden administration also updated its policies.
According to the Washington Post, which cited anonymous U.S. officials, Biden approved the supply of antipersonnel land mines to Ukraine.
“When they’re used in concert with the other munitions that we already are providing Ukraine, the intent is that they will contribute to a more effective defense,” stated a government official.
Biden reportedly revived an Obama-era policy in 2022 that prohibited the shipment and use of American antipersonnel land minds outside of Korea, despite the fact that the United States is not one of the 164 parties to the Ottawa Convention, also known as the Mine Ban Treaty.
Glenn Beck, a co-founder of Blaze Media, said that the Biden administration is putting Russian President Vladimir Putin “into a corner.”
If you keep backing a man who is a savage killer into a corner, what will happen? ‘I’ll have absolutely no credibility’ [with] his people after they’ve been bombarded by U.S. missiles, which he warned two days ago would constitute an act of war,” Beck claimed. “A period of insanity has begun. Joe Biden’s actions are grounds for impeachment.
“World War III is not what Americans want.”
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) maintained that Biden had committed “an unconstitutional Act of War” that was punishable by impeachment the day before the ATACMS strikes.
Why would Joe Biden allow Ukraine to fire American-made long-range missiles into Russia knowing that this is Putin’s nuclear red line?! He’s risking World War III with just 62 days left in office office. This is IMPEACHABLE. pic.twitter.com/G3Rzo48fPs

In a letter to Biden on Tuesday, Texas Representative Keith Self (R) criticized his choice to approve Ukraine’s deployment of ATACMS against Russia.
Self said that although the missile systems would have been tactically helpful at a previous point in the war, their employment now is “counter-productive to President-elect Donald J. Trump’s stated goal towards a negotiated peace.”
“This is failing experts’ faceless power in action.”
“If this desperate move by your administration represents an attempt by deep-state operatives to hamstring the incoming Trump presidency, it’s a dangerous miscalculation,” Self stated. “I am quite worried that this error in judgment could have disastrous consequences. The American people do not desire a third world war.
For Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), “January 20 can’t get here fast enough,” Laura Ingraham of Fox News said. “It appears that Ukraine has permission to escalate the situation. What would happen if Russia launched missiles into a NATO member’s territory and then retaliated? Our obligations under the treaty would then be activated. Then we’re discussing a full-scale conflict.”
Hawley said that earlier this year, his own party deemed the man who approved the firing of long-range missiles against a nuclear state to be too shabby to continue in the presidential contest.
Matthew Peterson, the editor-in-chief of Blaze News, said “what is happening in regard to Russia and Ukraine while we have no functional President is one of the last, most reckless and outrageous acts from the supposed ‘adults in the room’ who have consistently driven our nation towards the cliff the last four disastrous years.”
“This is not ‘democracy,'” Peterson went on. “This is the faceless power of failing experts in action: blocking the public’s will during a president’s last “lame duck” time due to elderly dementia. Weak guys engage in this kind of masochistic, suicidal irresponsibility.
On “Blaze News Tonight,” Peterson continued, “I believe there is something very reprehensible about this nation’s self-assured foreign policy authority. Foreign policy professionals dress up in suits and the lingo of -isms and -istics, saying things like, “We know all this stuff and we have domain knowledge that you don’t have,” out of all the many government experts who get degrees. Throughout the entire government complex, they are constantly the most malevolent, hazardous, and incredibly stupid sector.
BLAZE NEWS TONIGHT@docMJP on the Biden administration’s policy to further provoke Russia: “Joe Biden is a lame duck president. This isn’t even democracy now. We don’t know who is making these decisions. It’s suicidal recklessness.” https://t.co/ZMFzpoWGZK pic.twitter.com/r1tBxWmQlm
