Emergency personnel were notified of an explosion in Newcastle on October 16.
Seven-year-old Archie York lost his life in the horrific event. Later, beneath the wreckage of the three houses demolished on Violet Close in Benwell, another body—possibly that of a 30-year-old man—was discovered.
No one is thought to be missing, and six more people have been taken to the hospital. The remaining inhabitants have been lodging with friends and family.
Superintendent Darren Adams remarked from the scene, “I stand before you today with deep sorrow after the untimely death of a small child.” “A seven-year-old kid has tragically died as a result of the incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning.
He regrettably passed away at the spot despite the emergency services’ best attempts.
“This is a really terrible result.”
“I’m sure that the residents of Elswick, Benwell, and the surrounding area will want to join me in sending their condolences and best wishes to friends and family. It is impossible to imagine the sorrow and agony they must be going through.
The seven-year-old who died is being remembered by his family, who call him “a lovely lad.”
“My nephew Archie was the most adorable, humorous, and kind young man, and his name should be yelled from the rooftops! The whole family is “devastated and heartbroken beyond words,” according to his aunt Abbie York, who also said, “We all love you so much little man, you didn’t deserve this.”
The families of the two individuals who died are in our prayers and thoughts.
