Kellie Pickler is embroiled in a court dispute with his parents a year after her husband, Kyle Jacobs, committed suicide.
According to court filings filed in August 2024 and later acquired by Us Weekly, “a dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death.”
Pickler claimed that after creating a “List of Assets,” Jacobs’ parents, Reed and Sharon, subpoenaed the singer to turn over the goods. Pickler went on to say that she doesn’t own some of those things.
Pickler and Jacobs were married three years after they began dating in 2008. They remained together until 2023, when he passed away.
What Caused Kyle Jacobs’ Death?
In February 2023, it was announced that 49-year-old Jacobs had committed suicide. Local cops had discovered him in the couple’s Nashville residence.
According to a subsequent toxicology report, Jacob had no narcotics in his system when he passed away.
What Has Kellie Pickler Said Regarding the Death of Kyle Jacobs?
Five months later, Pickler released a statement, breaking her silence on Jacobs’ passing.
One of my husband’s most lovely teachings was to “do nothing, just be still” if you were in a crisis and didn’t know what to do. “I’ve decided to follow his advice,” she declared in August 2023. “I want to express my gratitude to my family, friends, and supporters for the innumerable letters, phone calls, and messages I have received. It is assisting me in overcoming the most difficult period of my life and has genuinely touched my spirit. You are all in my prayers, as several of you have informed me.
She sold their house when?
Kellie Pickler filed a lawsuit against her in-laws, but why?
The coadministrators of Jacobs’ estate, Jacobs’ parents, allegedly asked that Pickler turn over some of their son’s personal belongings. The former American Idol contestant denied ownership of the items in her court filing.
In particular, Reed and Sharon asked for Jacobs’ collection of firearms, jewels, watches, baseball cards, musical instruments, and any other personal electronics. Pickler claims that her in-laws took several things out of her house without telling her.
“Ms. Pickler requests an order requiring the coadministrators to identify the items that they took from her home as part of this action,” according to Pickler’s documents.
How Have the Parents of Kyle Jacobs Responded to the Legal Allegations?
In their November 2024 petition, which Us was able to access, Reed and Sharon refuted Pickler’s allegations, stating that they had retrieved the materials “at the express invitation” of Pickler and her legal team. It has been stated that her lawyers were there to “discuss the transfer of items belonging to the estate.”
Additionally, Reed and Sharon asked that Pickler’s motion be dismissed since their property ownership is governed by the prenuptial agreement that Pickler and Jacobs signed when they were married in 2011.
A Protective Order is Issued to Kellie Pickler
In order to prevent “annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden or expense,” Pickler was later given a protective order that forbids either party from distributing a transcript or video of court hearings.
Meanwhile, Sharon and Reed protested the order.
