According to reports, Kamala Harris lavished a lot of money on celebrity appearances in an attempt to get voters to support her, but fortunately, it was unsuccessful. The situation actually becomes a little worse now that people are criticizing the celebs for their actions. Kamala ran her campaign into millions of dollars of debt in another unsuccessful presidential race.
Big-name celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and former first lady Michelle Obama were exposed by sports analyst Stephen A. Smith for attempting to “guilt trip” supporters into supporting Kamala. Smith feels that this was a bad thing because it just served to alienate regular people through a political guilt trip. According to Awful Announcing, Stephen A. Smith said:
In response to Donald Trump’s victory, Smith criticized celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and former First Lady Michelle Obama for “alienating” the general public by attempting to “guilt” them into voting for Harris in a Wednesday episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show.
In the end, Smith stated, “celebrities, who are worth hundreds of millions, if not billions, and who the majority of Americans believe are extremely detached from their way of life and their quality of life, were not going to get away and guilt them into doing something different than what their experience says is going on and what they should do about it.”
In actuality, celebrities should limit their involvement in politics to entertainment. What a celebrity thinks is irrelevant to us. Additionally, half of a celebrity’s fanbase turns against them when they adopt a political stance. Why would you do that? Celebrities should only amuse and never reveal their voting preferences to others. It merely leads to conflicts and isn’t worth it.
