‘Oppenheimer’ star Emma Dumont comes out as trans masculine and shares pronouns

Known for playing Jackie in the critically acclaimed movie Oppenheimer, Emma Dumont has openly accepted their identify as a trans masculine non-binary person.

Among close friends and family, the 30-year-old actor has taken the name Nick Dumont and now uses the pronouns they/them.

Dumont will still go by Emma Dumont in her professional life despite her personal transformation. Their choice to stick with their stage name throughout their career is reflected in their Instagram username, which hasn’t altered.

“They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person,” a spokesman told TMZ. Emma Dumont will continue to be their professional name, but they will use Nick when interacting with friends and family.

Since starting their acting career in 2009, Dumont has amassed more than 25 acting credits. Their performance as Lorna Dane/Polaris in the FOX series The Gifted brought them a great deal of fame.

Their reputation in the business was further cemented by their recent performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Emma Dumont portrays Jackie Oppenheimer in Oppenheimer, the wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s younger brother, Frank Oppenheimer. Jackie is shown as a crucial character in the story of the Oppenheimer family, providing information on the private lives and relationships of the renowned physicist and others close to him.

Dumont has a history in modeling and dance in addition to acting, having trained at esteemed establishments including the Bolshoi dance Academy in Moscow and the Pacific Northwest Ballet School.

They have also competed in FIRST Robotics contests, demonstrating their significant interest in STEM.

Along with Emma D’Arcy and Emma Corrin, Dumont is one of the increasing number of public figures who have publicly disclosed their non-binary identities.

Known for playing Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, D’Arcy has discussed how their gender identity influences both their personal and professional lives. They use the pronouns they/them. For non-binary people, they have talked about the importance of clothes as a kind of “armor” and emphasized its function in self-expression.

In a similar vein, Corrin, who rose to stardom in The Crown as Princess Diana, came out in 2021 and likewise uses the pronouns they/them. Emphasizing the value of representation and authenticity, Corrin has talked candidly about their experience with gender, including wearing a binder and experimenting with gender expression.
