After displaying magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) film that revealed how the quantity of hyaluronic acid fillers put into a patient had spontaneously migrated and multiplied over time, a medical surgeon went viral. Thousands of viewers were astounded by the results, and several acknowledged that their injected fillers never went away.
According to the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, dermal fillers are gel-like materials that are injected beneath the skin to improve face features, remove wrinkles, and restore lost volume.
The board claims that over a million men and women select this well-liked face rejuvenation procedure each year.
Hyaluronic acid-based injectable fillers are the most widely used kind and are typically the most transient choice. Fillers made of hyaluronic acid usually last six to eighteen months.
Dr. Kami Parsa, an oculoplastic surgeon, became viral after sharing MRI video.
Dr. Kami Parsa, an oculoplastic surgeon from Beverly Hills, California, posted a video of a patient’s MRI on his TikTok page on Friday, July 12, showing how injectables had changed the patient’s face.
Over the previous six years, the patient, a 33-year-old lady, had received injections of more than 12 CC (equal to 12 milliliters), and hence 12 syringes of hyaluronic acid filler.
The MRI in the movie, which has had over 7.2 million views, revealed a grey face with green spots that lit up in different places, such as the cheeks and lips, where the hyaluronic acid filler was still present.
The treatments that the patient in question had undergone were not specified by Dr. Parsa. But he did clarify that when a volumetric analysis was performed to measure the woman’s filler, the total amount of the material was 28 CC.
In his video, the doctor stated, “That’s more than twice the amount of filler that was injected.”
“What this indicates is that hyaluronic acid fillers are hydrophilic,” he added.
“This indicates that they both cause tissue expansion and love water.”
As one TikTok user put it, “I just don’t see how this wouldn’t completely destroy the lymphatic system,” the MRI raised concerns.
Someone wrote, “AT LAST, THIS IS BEING TALKED ABOUT.” “The insane use and mass production without warning.” I must know more. How about Botox?
“Botox has a long history and is safe if performed correctly,” Dr. Parsa retorted.
The MRI revealed that the patient had received twice as much hyaluronic acid fillers.
“Well, so water is key to keeping my filler,” someone said.
“I keep telling people that I only got my lips done three times, 0.5ml each time, and my lips are still the same because it DOES NOT DISSOLVE,” one viewer acknowledged. That was five years ago.
The medical expert replied, “That’s what the filler companies were telling us,” to a netizen’s comment that “all injectors said it would only last 6 months when it first came out.”
One onlooker wrote: “I had chin filler TEN years ago, and I haven’t required a touch-up since. This entire time, it has remained unchanged.
Another person added: “I had lip surgery eight years ago. It hasn’t disappeared yet.
Over time, fillers have gained popularity, and celebrities are frequently chastised for using them excessively.
When images of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes contrasting their older and more recent headshots began to circulate online this year, the couple was targeted by social media beauty reviewers last month.
Meredith West, a physician assistant with a Master of Science and 15 years of expertise focusing in injectables and plastic surgery, shared a joint Reel with the Virginia-based (USA) Mountcastle Medical Spa on her Instagram profile on March 29.
In the video, “before and after” photos of Ryan and Eva appear to show a dramatic change in their physical characteristics, with the married couple becoming a little “puffier” than they once were.
Meredith captioned the reel with, “I assume they’ve both had some cosmetic work done recently.”
She clarified: “Botox and facial fillers have probably been used by both of them, and I believe Eva may have had facial surgery (perhaps a facelift +/- fat grafting).”
The most widely used kind of injectable fillers are hyaluronic acid-based.

According to the NHS, botulinum toxin injections, like Botox, relax the muscles in your face to reduce wrinkles and lines like frown lines and crow’s feet.
Both Botox and fillers might have adverse consequences if used excessively. A Botox overdose can result in severe muscle paralysis, which can impair facial expression and give the appearance of unnaturalness, according to Nurse Gemavie.
In March 2023, dermatologist Jessica Weiser told Allure, “Unfortunately, we see a good amount of [overdone filler].” “That classic pillow-face appearance — very puffy with strange anatomic proportions” is how it starts out.
Although there are several contributing causes to the illness, Allure stated that poor injector discretion is undoubtedly a major contributor.
“I think they both looked amazing before and didn’t need anything other than a little preventative tox and maybe some biostim (i.e., Sculptra) for collagen stimulation,” Meredith added in the caption of her hypothetical Reel of Ryan and Eva’s cosmetic procedures.
“Of course, medical-grade skincare products, as well as laser, microneedling, radiofrequency, and CO2 for upkeep and prevention.”
Jonny Betteridge, an aesthetician, is among the several medical professionals who have commented on the Barbie star’s physical transformation.
Jonny talked about the 43-year-old actor’s facial changes throughout the years in a Reel he made on March 28 that had 2.2 million views.
As he examined Ryan’s old photos, the doctor said, “He’s always had very masculine-looking features, well-structured cheekbones, a squared jawline, and a wide chin.”
Dr. Parsa measured the fillers in a 33-year-old patient using a volumetric analysis.

Jonny went on: “This mid-facial flatness is a particular feature of his face that is extremely indicative of his appearance.
Once more, this is visible here, when the face appears sunken.
“I apply dermal filler to these four areas since the majority of patients I meet for dermal filler treatments require some kind of mid-face restoration.
“Restoring volume and the structure of the cheekbones.”
“Notice a change in this area of the face where it looks much fuller and less sunken,” the doctor continued, implying that the actor had most likely undergone filler injections around 2021.
The aesthetics expert continued by saying that the Canadian native’s appearance become “overfilled” in more recent years.
“His cheeks and mid-face are fuller, and his facial proportions have changed,” Jonny remarked. “The dynamic movement of the face when someone smiles exacerbates this even more, and this look is typical of what I see when someone has had too much filler put in this area.”
