Today, a little more than a month after the singer’s untimely death at the age of 31, Liam Payne’s funeral is scheduled.
On October 16, the adored member of One Direction died after falling from the third-floor balcony of the Hotel CasaSur in Buenos Aires’ Palermo district.
According to The Guardian, authorities declared Payne dead at the scene, stating that he had sustained a “very serious injury” to the base of his skull.
The ‘Strip That Down’ star suffered “multiple traumas” and “internal and external hemorrhage” as a result of the deadly fall, according to the forensic medical corps’ conclusion.
Prosecutors also claim that toxicology tests revealed that Payne had traces of cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant in his body at the time of his death.
A ceremony for the ‘Teardrops’ singer will take place in the Home Counties today, Wednesday, November 20.
Only his parents, two sisters, Nicola and Ruth, Cheryl, the mother of his seven-year-old son Bear, his fiancée Kate Cassidy, and his closest friends will be present at the private ceremony.
Those paying their respects are anticipated to include his four One Direction colleagues, Louis Tomlinson, 32; Niall Horan, 31; Zayn Malik, 31; and Harry Styles, 30.
The Sun claims that Roger Nores, Payne’s manager, is the only person “not welcome” at the burial.
“Liam’s family wants his funeral to go off without a hitch and right now opinions are strained when it comes to Roger,” the publication was told by an insider with knowledge of the matter. Although he and Liam did share a bond, he has never been well-liked by Liam’s larger group.
He said that the deceased star’s family was unaware that the two had “reconnected” until Payne’s “fateful trip to Argentina last month.” “There is a difference in the narrative, Roger would say he stepped back from working with Liam – others would say he was pushed,” he said.
“Due to the ongoing investigation in Argentina, he’s not welcome at this week’s service,” said a source.
All throughout the world, the ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ singer’s unexpected passing shocked everyone.
Following Payne’s passing, the bandmates expressed their grief in a collective statement, saying they were “completely devastated” and would “terribly” miss him.
There will be more to say when everyone has the time to do so. However, for the time being, we will take some time to mourn and come to terms with the loss of our brother, whom we cherished,” they stated.
“We shall always cherish the moments we had with him. We are currently thinking about his family, friends, and the people that shared our love for him. He will be sorely missed. “Liam, we love you,” One Direction said in closing.
Prosecutors have opened an inquiry into Payne’s death and charged three individuals in relation to the incident.
