Although Jenna Ortega has just gained notoriety for her sultry scene with Martin Freeman, she has experience with age disparities from her time working with Kid Cudi.
A scene from the 21-year-old “Wednesday” star’s most recent movie, “Miller’s Girl,” began making the rounds online, shocking viewers.
In the scene, 52-year-old Ortega and Freeman engage in a heated exchange while portraying characters from a story written by Ortega’s character, Cairo Sweet.
Many viewers have become uneasy after seeing the actress, who starred in Wednesday as a teenager, interact closely with the actor, who played the sidekick in Sherlock Holmes.
But this isn’t the first time Ortega has been in a scenario when there is a big age gap between the characters.
In the 2022 horror film “X,” which was set in 1979, Ortega costarred with Cudi.
This movie tells the story of young filmmakers in the Texas countryside who want to make an adult film.
But when they are unexpectedly caught while filming their provocative scenes, their project takes a terrible turn, and they are forced to fight for their lives.
In the movie, Ortega, who was 19 at the time, had to undress for a sexual encounter with Cudi, who was 37.
Throughout the shoot, Tandi Wright, the intimacy coordinator, provided assistance and direction to the entire ensemble.
For helping to keep everyone calm and relaxed during filming, Tandi was showered with accolades.
In a recent interview with Indie Wire, Ortega talked about how thrilled she was to be in the movie.
She said, “I was really eager to do the film because it was something I had never done before.”
But her sex scene ‘wasn’t initially in the screenplay,’ she disclosed.
She clarified: “That wasn’t a component [of the movie] when I signed on. Later, it was something that happened.
“[It was] flipping the stereotype over and just taking somebody who you wouldn’t really see in that position suddenly in that position.”
“I think it adds to the spontaneity of the decision and also just the spontaneity of the film.”
Wright is ‘the loveliest, kindest intimacy coordinator in the world,’ according to Ortega.
On “Miller’s Girl,” two years later, Ortega worked alongside another intimacy coordinator, Kristina Arjona, who was in charge of making sure the actors were at ease and safe.
While filming the more intimate scenes, Arjona made it apparent that’many, many people’ worked to ensure Ortega was happy.
She told the Mail Online: “I’m hyper aware of both of my talent and making sure that we’re consistently checking in and that at no point are any of their boundaries being surpassed.”
“And again, making sure – especially with someone who’s significantly younger – that they are giving continuous consent.”
While Miller’s Girl debuted in cinemas on January 26, X is currently available for purchase on Prime Video.
