According to TMZ, James Van Der Beek is fighting colorectal cancer.
The 47-year-old actor, who is most known for “Dawson’s Creek,” revealed to People that he is undergoing treatment for the illness.
Van Der Beek asserts that there is cause for optimism in spite of the alarming diagnosis. He adds that he’s feeling good but doesn’t elaborate on what he means.
The colon or rectum, which comprise the large intestine, is where colorectal cancer starts, according to the American Cancer Society.
Van Der Beek has been fighting the illness for an unknown amount of time, but he is doing everything he can to support those who are suffering from it like him. He will participate in a two-hour special called “The Real Full Monty” in which he and other well-known celebrities will strip off in order to raise awareness of specific cancers.
Alongside “Dancing with the Stars” judge Bruno Tonioli, defensive tackle Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs, Anthony Anderson, Taye Diggs, Tyler Posey, and Van Der Beek, he will be completely exposed.
Despite the diagnosis, he has continued to work in recent months and made an appearance in a “Walker” episode this year. Additionally, a new film of his called “Sidelined the QB and Me” is still in post-production.
James is wed to Kimberly Brook, with whom he has two boys, Joshua and Jeremiah, and six children: Olivia, Annabel, Emilia, and Gwendolyn.
