Since her brief childhood career, Emma Watson has stepped out to explain why we no longer see her on screen.
If you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably forgotten that Watson was a mainstay in the magical world of Harry Potter and everyone’s childhood heroine.
Fans witnessed Hermione Granger’s transformation from a small child to a fully grown adult in front of them as she played the part in each movie.
In addition to appearing in the eight movies, Watson later established herself outside of the wizarding community.
She portrayed the best impersonation of a real person in Bling Ring, the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
However, she seems to disappear from our view after portraying Meg March in Greta Gerwig’s 2019 film Little Women.
What gives, then?
As it was almost six years since her last movie, she talked about why she continues to turn down Hollywood offers.
Early last year, Watson told the Financial Times that she “wasn’t very happy” and decided to take a break from acting.
She clarified, “I think I felt a bit caged.” The fact that I had to go out and sell something over which I had little control was what I found most difficult.
“To have every journalist be able to ask, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?'” while standing in front of a movie Being the ambassador and face of something that I wasn’t able to participate in was really challenging.
The movie star started to realize what she wanted after feeling as like she “didn’t have a voice” during an interview about her job.
“I only wanted to stand in front of things where I could say, if someone were to criticize me, ‘Yes, I screwed up, it was my decision, I should have done better,’ without feeling like I was hating myself.”
Her primary project these days is Renais, a wine-inspired gin that she co-founded with her brother Alex.
Oh, and she enjoys directing as well.
In 2022, Watson directed, scripted, and narrated a short video in addition to starring in it to promote a new Prada fragrance.
She teased directing a music video for someone we will “definitely have heard of” and called this a “very” important occasion for her.
However, if you enjoy watching her perform in movies, you shouldn’t worry too much because Watson “absolutely” will go back to acting in the future.
However, I’m content to wait for the next appropriate thing. “I enjoy what I do,” she said. “It’s figuring out how to do it without having to split myself up into various personas and faces.” Furthermore, I simply don’t want to go into robot mode any more. Does that make sense?
