Donald Trump is named Time Magazine’s Person of The Year

Time Magazine has chosen Donald Trump its Person of the Year.

The business tycoon was named the magazine’s Person of the Year in 2016, making this the second time the president-elect has been bestowed with the esteemed accolade.

Elon Musk, Kate Middleton, and Joe Rogan were among the people on Time Magazine’s shortlist, which was just released. However, Trump has triumphed once more, marking his second significant victory since winning the election last month.

The shortlist also included Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Claudia Sheinbaum, Benjamin Netanyahu, Yulia Navalnaya, Jerome Powell, and Kamala Harris.

“Trump’s political rebirth is unparalleled in American history,” Time said in reference to their 2024 winner. “His first term ended in disgrace, with his attempts to overturn the 2020 election results culminating in the attack on the U.S. Capitol.”

It went on: “When he declared his candidacy in late 2022, he was shushed by the majority of party officials due to several criminal probes. Trump won one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in history a little over a year later after defeating the Republican field.

People are divided on the 78-year-old’s selection as Person of the Year.

On Time’s Instagram post, someone wrote: “That’s really the best you’ve got?”

“This is the biggest joke history has ever seen,” a second person commented.

However, other people had more favorable things to say about Trump.

“What an inspiration he is! A social media user said, “Wait until America returns in four years.”

“Congratulations @realdonaldtrump,” wrote another, congratulating Time on its decision. So richly deserved.
