The children of Macaulay Culkin have already mastered the “Kevin!” posture.
The three-year-old Dakota Song Culkin and the unnamed two-year-old boy he and fiancée Brenda Song have are already avid Home Alone fans. Dakota finds himself relating with Macaulay’s Kevin McCallister in the 1990 movie to such an extent.
“He thinks he’s Kevin,” Macaulay revealed in an exclusive interview with E! News. “I ask, ‘Do you recall using the sled to go down those stairs?'” He says, “Yep, mmm.” Yes, please. “Do you remember when he had yellow hair?” I ask. And he responds, “Yep, huh.”
Macaulay mockingly calls him out because Dakota even thinks he “fought the burglars” himself.
He recalled saying to his kid, “You’re a lying liar who lies.” “That was me!'”
He’s glad to give them the fantasy, though. Additionally, Macaulay finds that sitting with his sons and discussing everything that happens in the movie has been beneficial, even if brother Kieran Culkin hasn’t shown Home Alone to his children out of concern that it could be too frightening.
“They can’t really follow the storyline,” he said, “so I kind of told them the story as it goes.”
And he’s confident that when kids discover that their dad is the main character in the beloved holiday film, it will blow their heads.
“Now I’m much taller. Macaulay jokingly remarked, “I have a lot more body hair.” “But yeah, that was actually me.”
Even while many families now watch Home Alone every Christmas, Macaulay acknowledged that it took him some time to “embrace” the movie.
“I’m kind of embracing it and, at the same time, taking the piss out of it, too,” he said. “I’m a part of something that kind of encompasses an important day, which is quite uncommon. Embracing it is more enjoyable than fighting it.
“We didn’t want to do something that was too on the nose when it came to referencing Home Alone,” he said. It was more akin to a small wink and nod. It just seemed kind of pleasant, easy, and enjoyable to me.
Naturally, the carolers are the thing that excites him the most.
Macaulay chuckled and said, “They paid me in carolers,” “Yes, I think I have it in my contract that they have to send carolers to my house.”
