After a fight with severe lung cancer, Debbie Nelson, Eminem’s mother, passed away at the age of 69. She died in St. Joseph, Missouri, last night.
In September, Debbie was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. The 51-year-old musician has not communicated with his mother or other family members in Missouri for a number of years, despite giving her financial support.
According to the Mirror US, Eminem’s songs, such as Cleaning Out My Closet, accuse his mother of abuse and neglect, reflecting their turbulent relationship.
After successfully suing the rapper for defamation in 2005 for songs that implied she was a drug user, Debbie was awarded $25,000. Her candid memoir, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem, was released in 2008.
In 1972, at the age of 18, Debbie gave birth to Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers.
Following the rapper’s declaration in his Temporary music video that his daughter Hailie is expecting her first child, Debbie passed away. In the event of his passing, the song is a letter to his daughter. He and Hailie were seen on the front of some steps in one of the video’s moments.
Hailie gives him an ultrasound and a blue Detroit Lions shirt with the words “Grandpa 1” printed on the back. Numerous home movies of his cherished 28-year-old daughter are also included in the poignant song video. A video of him hugging her new husband at her wedding was also included.
At the end of the video, a happy Hailie emerges with the jersey while Eminem sits on the porch steps. As he looks closely at the ultrasound and reads the jersey, she takes a seat beside him. The Just Lose It rapper’s mouth drops in disbelief as he raises it up and shows the camera.
The video also showed Hailie enjoying her first dance with her father while her wedding guests gathered around her. To express their congratulations and offer commentary on Eminem’s emotional side, fans flocked to the comment section.
Hailie confirmed her engagement to boyfriend Evan in February of last year. The social media celebrity posted multiple photos from her then-boyfriend’s romantic proposal on Instagram to share the happy news. After posting a series of pictures, one of which featured her fiancé getting down on one knee, she wrote, “Casual weekend recap,” to her three million followers.
