British teen jailed in Dubai after having sex with girl on holiday

After engaging in ‘vacation romance’ with a 17-year-old female, an 18-year-old British man was imprisoned.

Marcus Fakana, a London resident who was on vacation in the United Arab Emirates with his family, was given a one-year prison sentence.

He also thinks the 17-year-old, whom he met at his hotel, is from London.

‘Detained in Dubai’ is an advocacy group that claims the kid feels ‘abandoned’ by the British authorities.

In a statement, Fakana’s family requested that Foreign Secretary David Lammy step in.

Last month, Detained in Dubai’s CEO, Radha Sterling, stated: “Mr. Lammy is in a perfect position to help young Marcus.”

“Dubai police have the authority to allow Marcus to return home and drop the case against him. We ask Mr. Lammy MP to communicate this to his peers in the United Arab Emirates because we do not want to do this to young people.

According to reports, Fakana described the experience to Sterling: “We had a great time together. Although we had a lot in common, she kept her family secrets since they were strict.

“My parents were aware of our relationship, but she was unable to disclose her own. Mr. Fakana told Detained in Dubai, “She had to meet me without telling them it was to see a boy.”

I was eager to see her again when I returned home after she departed. Then our hotel door was abruptly knocked on by police. They refused to explain why they were hauling me in for interrogation. I had no idea what it was for. My parents were scared, and I was scared.

Although out-of-wedlock sex for visitors is now legal in Dubai, the city nevertheless adheres to stringent Islamic law.

Sterling, who was helping Fakana and his family, stated: “After his girlfriend returned to London, he was informed that her mother had reported the connection to the police in Dubai.

“Marcus later learned that the mother had discovered their conversations and photos on her daughter’s phone. She was so incensed that she called the Dubai police to report him.

Involving the police in a private problem that is quite lawful in the nation where she resides and where the children have grown up, this mother is obviously very rigid.

“Perhaps she wasn’t aware that she triggered the possibility of a young man of only 18 spending the next 20 years in prison.”

Fakana was given a sentence of one year in prison, while he was previously facing a maximum of twenty years.

Ms. Sterling continued, “At the time, Marcus was unaware that the girl was only a few months younger than him. There is no need for Dubai to pursue this.

“Parents will be afraid to take their older teens on vacation with them because they might die for actions that are totally acceptable in their home countries.”

It is anticipated that Fakana would challenge his sentence.
