Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and their 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter appeared in public at the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King on Dec. 9, one day after the rapper publicly denied a rape allegation against him. The singer-actress, 43, returns to her voiceover role as Nala in Disney’s Mufasa (in theaters Dec. 20), the new prequel to 2019’s photorealistic Lion King remake. Blue Ivy joins her as on-screen lioness cub Kiara. The couple posed on the carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday night, alongside Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles. Jay-Z, 55, was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl 24 years prior in a civil lawsuit filed in October by a woman identified only as Jane Doe. Initially, the lawsuit listed Sean “Diddy” Combs as a defendant, but later amended to include Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter).
The rapper strongly refuted the accusations on Sunday, December 8, calling the filing “a blackmail attempt” on the X (formerly Twitter) account of his entertainment firm, Roc Nation. He also spoke out against Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee.
He had anticipated that I would want to settle because of the gravity of these accusations and the public scrutiny. It did the exact reverse, sir! I felt compelled to publicly reveal you as the phony that you are. Therefore, no, I won’t give you a single red penny. Jay-Z made a post. “I beg you to file a criminal complaint rather than a civil one since these accusations are so egregious! Would you not agree that someone who would perpetrate such a crime against a youngster ought to be imprisoned? If such were the case, these purported victims would be entitled to true justice.
Alongside costars Aaron Pierre, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner, Beyoncé made an appearance at the premiere with her family. Director Barry Jenkins was present on the red carpet as well.
Later on Monday night, Beyoncé shared pictures from the premiere along with a compliment about her “gorgeous baby girl” on Instagram. “This is your evening. You put a lot of effort into creating Kiara’s voice, and the result is stunning. Your family is extremely proud. “Continue to shine,” she wrote.

According to her lawsuit, the lady was raped by Combs and Jay-Z at a party in a New York City home after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards while an unidentified female star looked on. Combs, 55, was arrested in September on sex trafficking and racketeering charges and is currently being imprisoned in a federal prison in Brooklyn after being denied bail for the third time. The trial for the musician is set for May 2025.
Jay-Z rarely discussed his family in his remarks on X, including his 12-year-old Blue Ivy and his 7-year-old twins Sir and Rumi. “My only heartbreak is for my family,” he added in the letter. “My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.”
Tina Knowles, the rapper’s mother-in-law, “liked” an Instagram post on the news after he spoke out about the accusations. Hours before the Mufasa debut on December 9, Knowles took to Instagram once more and claimed that her account had been compromised.
With the subtitle, “No weapon devised against my family shall prosper,” Knowles wrote: “I got hacked! I don’t joke about my family, as you are all aware,” she wrote. “So, if you see something that is out of character for me. Please be aware that it is not me.
The Lion King, Mufasa, opens in theaters on December 20.
